The Challenge

The Community Collective is a global community of community builders that started in Australia. Today, they boast an audience of 12.8k+, with 700+ members across 18 countries, which continues to grow consistently. They are most well-known for their 8-week Community Cohort program. 

The Community Collective identified key challenges in delivering impactful networking opportunities:

  1. Facilitating Networking at Events: Networking at in-person events can feel overwhelming for some and it’s tough to meet all 80+ people in 1 room. The Community Collective sought a solution to help attendees connect more intentionally, not only during events but also before and after.
  2. Enhancing Cohort Connections: With over 100 participants in their 8-week cohort program, they wanted to create more intentional opportunities for members to connect in meaningful ways, ensuring each participant met more people.
  3. Demonstrating Measurable Value: The team was keen for a more structured way to track how many introductions are made on an ongoing basis with clear data.

Solution #1: Attendee Networking

The Community Collective partnered with Intros AI to enhance attendee networking through personalized 1:1 introductions. Intros AI’s platform offered a holistic approach, integrating seamlessly into The Community Collective’s events to provide tailored connections before, during, and after each gathering.

Opt in: During registration, attendees could opt-in for intros.

Pre-event intros: Intros AI enabled introductions two weeks before events, enabling participants to connect with like-minded professionals in advance.

Match recommendations: Attendees received personalized match recommendations, complete with conversation prompts to break the ice.

During and after event: During the event, people already had someone to connect with. After events, attendees received follow-up introductions to deepen connections and continue building their networks.

Integrations: With integrations into platforms such as Luma, the entire experience felt like a natural extension of The Community Collective’s brand.

Cohort Connections

  • Offered cohort participants the chance to opt into personalised introductions, creating intentional connections throughout the 8-week program.
  • Used Intros AI to match participants based on shared interests, goals, and expertise, ensuring meaningful conversations.

  • Provided clear data on the number of introductions made and engagement rates through Intros AI.
  • Delivered actionable insights to track how networking efforts impacted member satisfaction and retention.

Implemantation

Intros AI worked closely with The Community Collective to roll out its platform over a six-month period across various events and programs. The implementation included:

  1. Data Collection and Analysis: Leveraging data from registration forms and subscriber profiles to tailor matches to member goals.
  2. Customization: Matching criteria were designed for each event, aligning with themes like startups, leadership, and collaboration.
  3. White-Labeled Integration: The Intros AI platform was branded to reflect The Community Collective’s identity, creating a seamless member experience.
  4. Onboarding and Support: Intros AI provided training for organizers to ensure successful execution.

The Outcome.

Over six months, Intros AI helped The Community Collective achieve remarkable outcomes:

Personalized Introductions: 150+ introductions made for 300+ people across 2 x in person events and 1 x online program

Improved Engagement During Events: Attendees reported making valuable connections, with many citing networking as the highlight of their experience.

High NPS and Feedback: Post-event feedback was fantastic from attendees who really loved the enhanced connection opportunities.

Actionable Insights: Detailed analytics from Intros AI allowed The Community Collective to refine event strategies and quantify the no. of introductions made.

Improved Program Experience: Members loved the new benefit of connecting with other members via email during the cohort.

By partnering with Intros AI, The Community Collective delivered on its mission to create unique, value-driven experiences for community builders. Megan is the Chief Executive Officer of V1 @Michigan, the community for ambitious student builders at the University of Michigan. Megan joined On Deck in the hopes of finding a technical co-founder to help her build a business that spreads mental health awareness.
Jonathan Pierre
Growth @Envision Accelerator
Jonathan Pierre works in Growth @Envision Accelerator, a community-driven accelerator for young, underrepresented founders. Jonathan joined the On Deck Intros club to find someone with experience in fundraising and product management.
The Match

Megan and Jonathan met in 2021 through the On Deck Intros Club. After just the second week of opt-ing in, the perfect match was between the two was found.

Intros made the match for three main reasons:

They had complementary skills through Intros “Give & Take” question mentioned earlier

They both wanted to spend all of their time (40+ hours) to build something truly impactful as quickly as possible
3
They were both extremely passionate about mental health and wanted to solve problems they felt were affecting the next generation disproportionately.

Moving Forward

In 2022, Jonathan and Megan have made large strides in creating the company that will address the next generation’s mental health challenges called Headspace. They have raised many rounds of funding and are quickly growing to become a next-gen leader in the space.

Megan and Jonathan still meet using the On Deck Intros club to this day to find more talented co-founders to join them on their mission.

Overall Impact

When members within the OnDeck community were matched, they were given all of the information from these questions, and our matching algorithm was able to make ideal matches based on all the percentages of weigh you see above. It is really difficult to find other young, aspiring founders - much less screen them for availability and accountability you want in a co-founder. This Intros club proved to be incredibly powerful for the OnDeck community, and will be started up again when the new batch of aspiring founders comes through the OnDeck pipeline.
